2 packs (approx. 300g) shrimp paste or finely minced raw shrimp
1 cup spinach (blanched, drained, and finely chopped)
1/3 cup carrot (finely chopped)
1 egg white
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp starch (cornstarch or potato starch)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp white pepper
Cooking oil for frying
Prepare the Spinach
Blanch the spinach in boiling water for 30 seconds. Drain, squeeze out excess water, and chop finely.
Mix the Batter
In a bowl, combine the shrimp paste, chopped spinach, chopped carrots, egg white, oyster sauce, starch, salt, and white pepper. Mix thoroughly until it forms a thick, sticky batter.
Pipe the Bites
Transfer the mixture into a piping bag (or use a plastic bag with a small hole cut in one corner). Pipe small bite-sized rounds directly into a lightly oiled pan.
Fry Until Golden
Heat oil in a nonstick pan over low to medium heat. Fry the shrimp mixture until both sides are golden brown and cooked through, about 2–3 minutes per side.
Serve & Enjoy
Serve warm with sweet chili or garlic sauce. These poppers are soft, savory, and great for dipping!
