40g unsalted butter, softened
40g granulated sugar
140g low-gluten flour (cake flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
30ml milk
1 egg yolk (for brushing)
Cocoa powder (for coloring)
Bamboo charcoal powder (for coloring)
Cream Butter & Sugar
In a mixing bowl, soften the butter and add granulated sugar. Mix until light and fluffy.
Make the Dough
Sift in low-gluten flour and baking powder. Stir until the mixture becomes crumbly. Add the egg and milk, and knead into a smooth dough.
Shape the Cookies
Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll it out to a 1 cm thickness. Use a cat-shaped cookie cutter to press out shapes.
Decorate the Cats
Place the cookies on a baking tray. Brush each surface lightly with egg yolk. For color accents, mix cocoa powder or bamboo charcoal powder with a little water and paint on “fur” details using a fine brush.
Bake
Preheat the oven to 150°C (302°F). Bake the cookies for 20 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool completely before serving.
