Tofu β 1 block, cut into cubes
Cornstarch β for coating
Cooking oil β for frying
White sesame seeds β for garnish
For the sauce:
Soy sauce β 3 tablespoons
Tomato ketchup β 4 tablespoons
Vinegar β 2 teaspoons
Sugar β 1 tablespoon
Starch β 1 teaspoon
Salt β a pinch
Water β Β½ bowl
Prep the tofu:
Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes. Pat dry with a paper towel if moist.
Coat with starch:
Roll the tofu cubes evenly in a layer of cornstarch until well coated.
Fry tofu:
Heat oil in a non-stick pan over low heat. Add the tofu and pan-fry slowly on all sides until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Make the sauce:
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, starch, salt, and water. Mix well until smooth.
Glaze the tofu:
In the same pan, pour in the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer. Add the fried tofu cubes and stir gently to coat every piece evenly.
Garnish & serve:
Sprinkle with white sesame seeds and serve warm!
