200g pitted red dates (for paste)
320g milk (for cooking dates + batter)
2 eggs
70g whole wheat flour
30g oatmeal
20g chopped walnuts
4g baking powder
White sesame seeds and additional walnuts for topping (optional)
Step 1: Prepare Red Date Paste
Boil 200g of pitted red dates in 200g of milk over low heat until soft. Mash into a smooth paste and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine red date paste, 120g milk, and eggs. Stir until well blended.
Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients
Add whole wheat flour, oatmeal, baking powder, and chopped walnuts. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated.
Step 4: Assemble
Pour the mixture into a parchment-lined baking mold. Smooth the top and sprinkle with sesame seeds and extra walnut pieces.
Step 5: Bake
Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F). Bake for about 35 minutes until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool and Slice
Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
