1 cup steamed pumpkin (mashed)
Sandwich bread slices (as many as needed, crusts optional)
1 egg (for egg wash)
White sesame seeds (for coating)
Black sesame seeds (for garnish)
1. Prepare the Pumpkin Filling
Steam fresh pumpkin until soft and mash it into a smooth puree. Let it cool slightly.
2. Cut the Bread Rounds
Use the mouth of a wide cup or cookie cutter to press out round shapes from sandwich bread slices.
3. Assemble the Sandwiches
Take one round bread slice and spread a generous spoonful of pumpkin puree on top.
Gently press another bread round on top to make a sandwich.
4. Coat with Sesame Seeds
Lightly press the sides of the sandwich into white sesame seeds, coating the edges evenly.
5. Egg Wash and Garnish
Beat the egg and brush the top of each sandwich with egg wash.
Sprinkle a few black sesame seeds on top for decoration.
6. Bake to Golden Perfection
Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Or use Air Fryer.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the sandwiches on it.
Bake for 5 minutes, then flip each sandwich and bake for another 5 minutes or until both sides are golden and crisp.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve warm or at room temperature with a drizzle of honey or paired with warm milk for a comforting treat. Great for lunchboxes or afternoon snacks!
