250g shrimp paste (or finely minced raw shrimp)
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
2–3 sheets nori (seaweed sheets)
4–6 imitation crab sticks
Cooking oil for frying
Plastic wrap (for rolling and freezing)
Season the Shrimp Paste
In a bowl, mix the shrimp paste with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well-seasoned.
Prepare the Base
Lay out a sheet of plastic wrap. Place a nori sheet on top, then spread an even layer of the seasoned shrimp paste over the surface of the nori.
Add the Crab Stick & Roll
Place a crab stick along one end of the shrimp-covered nori sheet. Roll it up tightly using the plastic wrap to form a neat log. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Freeze to Set
Place the rolls in the freezer for 1–2 hours or until firm. This makes them easier to slice cleanly.
Slice & Fry
Once set, remove the rolls from the freezer and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Heat oil in a nonstick pan over low heat. Pan-fry the slices on both sides until crispy and golden brown.
Serve & Enjoy
Plate warm and enjoy as-is or with a side of soy sauce or sweet chili dip.
