For the tofu:
1 block of firm tofu
Oil for brushing (e.g., avocado or vegetable oil)
For the sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp black vinegar (or rice vinegar)
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 red chili pepper, sliced (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp chopped cilantro
1 tsp sugar (optional)
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Prep the Tofu:
Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
Place on parchment in an air fryer basket or tray.
First Bake:
Air fry at 200°C (392°F) for 10 minutes.
Brush and Flip:
Brush each tofu cube with oil.
Flip them over and air fry for another 10 minutes.
Final Bake:
Flip again and bake for a final 10 minutes until golden and crisp on all sides.
Make the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, chili slices, chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, and a bit of sugar if desired.
Assemble:
Pour the sauce over the crispy tofu.
Toss gently to coat each piece evenly.
Serve:
Garnish with more cilantro or sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
