Prepare the Crab Sticks:
Unwrap the imitation crab sticks and pat them dry with a paper towel. Wrap each stick with a small sheet of seaweed, ensuring it sticks securely.
Make the Batter:
In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and the egg. Mix well until you have a smooth, thick batter.
Coat the Crab Sticks:
Dip each seaweed-wrapped crab stick into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
Fry the Crab Sticks:
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 180°C (350°F). Carefully place the coated crab sticks into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Flip occasionally for even cooking.
Drain and Season:
Remove the fried crab sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with chili powder, paprika, or your favorite spice blend for added flavor.
Serve:
Arrange the crispy crab sticks on a serving plate and enjoy them warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
