1 cup bell peppers (red, green, and yellow; thinly sliced)
For the dough:
300g all-purpose flour
3g instant yeast
150ml water
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 tbsp black sesame seeds
Other:
100g shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Instructions:
Prepare the Beef Filling:
In a bowl, mix the beef strips with egg white, soy sauce, oyster sauce, corn starch, and oil. Let it marinate for 20 minutes.
Heat a pan with oil, add the marinated beef, and fry until it changes color. Season with black pepper, salt, and chicken powder.
Add the bell peppers and cook until soft. Set aside to cool.
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and water. Stir until the mixture becomes a flocculent texture. Add cooking oil and knead into a smooth dough.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Shape the Hand Pies:
Once the dough has risen, deflate it and divide it into six equal portions. Roll each portion into a round sheet, keeping the edges thinner than the center.
Place a generous spoonful of the beef filling and a sprinkle of shredded cheese in the center of each dough sheet. Fold the dough over the filling like a quilt, pinching the edges to seal.
Bake the Pies:
Arrange the pies seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle black sesame seeds for a finishing touch.
Let the pies rise for another 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the pies to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the ultimate cheesy, savory bite!
