Recipe Cooking Instructions:

Ingredients:

  • For the beef filling:

    • 200g beef (cut into strips)
    • 1 egg white
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tsp corn starch
    • 1 tbsp cooking oil
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp chicken powder
    • 1 cup bell peppers (red, green, and yellow; thinly sliced)
  • For the dough:

    • 300g all-purpose flour
    • 3g instant yeast
    • 150ml water
    • 2 tbsp cooking oil
    • 1 egg (for egg wash)
    • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • Other:

    • 100g shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Filling:

    • In a bowl, mix the beef strips with egg white, soy sauce, oyster sauce, corn starch, and oil. Let it marinate for 20 minutes.
    • Heat a pan with oil, add the marinated beef, and fry until it changes color. Season with black pepper, salt, and chicken powder.
    • Add the bell peppers and cook until soft. Set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and water. Stir until the mixture becomes a flocculent texture. Add cooking oil and knead into a smooth dough.
    • Cover and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  3. Shape the Hand Pies:

    • Once the dough has risen, deflate it and divide it into six equal portions. Roll each portion into a round sheet, keeping the edges thinner than the center.
    • Place a generous spoonful of the beef filling and a sprinkle of shredded cheese in the center of each dough sheet. Fold the dough over the filling like a quilt, pinching the edges to seal.
  4. Bake the Pies:

    • Arrange the pies seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle black sesame seeds for a finishing touch.
    • Let the pies rise for another 10 minutes.
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
